For many, this corner is the symbol of handmade gastronomy, with special delicacies.

Since 1919

It all starts in 1919! It is the year that Konstantinos Papagiannopoulos, with studies in Constantinople, and having learned the art of halva and other traditional sweets, establishes the well-known Halva Factory in Volos.

A few years later, the reins of the business passed to his son Stylianos, who having studied economics in Istanbul and Marseille and speaking six foreign languages, gives a new impetus to the Halva industry, making it one of the largest in its field nationwide.
His successors are his two sons, the economist Konstantinos and Giannis, an agronomist specializing in food technology, who modernized the equipment and enriched the variety of products.

Love and creation

The successor of the company, with the successful course, is now Mr. Giannis Papagiannopoulos. With his scientific knowledge, on the subject and passion for creation, he prepares the products of exceptional quality.
Mr. Papagiannopoulos, who has been an active member of the company for 50 years out of 100 years of life, tells us: “Since I was a child, I was connected with the field of halva making. I remember being in the factory and experimenting with the manufacture of various products and constantly asking, to learn. I have dedicated half a century of my life to the Halva Factory. I love what I do, I am fascinated by the process, the preparation of halva is my life ", he emphasizes and adds that" the secrets of the traditional recipe come from Istanbul, a century ago and are evolving. "The constant interest to keep our customers satisfied, but also the continuation of a local business, which is known nationwide and not only, are elements that arm us with determination, to continue the effort."
 The fourth generation of Halva Manufacturing is already being prepared, with the two daughters of Mr. Giannis Papagiannopoulos, being ready to continue the rich history, which the local community has embraced and wants to have a future.

Delicious products - tradition & avant-garde

Papagiannopoulou Halva Factory produces its handmade halva, always with respect to tradition, but also pioneers.
In the 80's he released the only halva, in a cylindrical shape, with cocoa-hazelnuts-raisins (special), and later the halva with health chocolate and almonds, flavors for which he has been awarded.
In the spirit of innovation and development, it constantly introduces to the halva market, new varieties, such as: with cranberries and almonds, with lemon and cinnamon, with Chios mastic, with honey, with coffee, with fruit, with white chocolate, as well as halva without sugar. The above gourmet flavors complement the simplest, traditional ones.
At the station of Halvadopoia, located at the junction of Papadiamanti-Vassani streets, all flavors are available, as well as other products such as:
Tahini (wholemeal and plain), halva pies (sesame, stragali), sesame, vanilla and sweet mastic, Turkish delights in various flavors, mustard loukou, pastelia, petimezi, carob honey, powdered sugar, starch, kouchada, glucose, etc. all at very affordable prices.

Papagiannopoulou Halva Factory in 1993 was awarded by the Municipality of Volos, as one of the longest-lived companies in the area, while its halva has been distinguished many times in recognizable gastronomy publications, among the highest quality in Greece. Has been awarded by the magazine "Gourmet" of Vimas, which includes Halva Papagiannopoulos in the 100 best products of Greek gastronomy. He has also received the "Gourmet" award of Sunday Eleftherotypia.
